Introduction
Customer Types allow you to organize and segment your contacts inside Copilot. By creating custom types, you can easily filter, search, and report on customers based on their category — such as Residential, Commercial, or Property Manager.
Step 1: Create Custom Customer Types
Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner of your Copilot screen.
Navigate to the List Items Visibility tab.
Scroll to Customer Types.
Add, edit, or delete customer types as needed.
These types will now appear as selectable options when editing or creating customers.
Step 2: Assign a Customer Type
Go to Customers > Customers in the left-hand menu.
Use the filters at the top to locate the customer you want to edit.
Click on the customer’s name to open their profile.
Under the Main Info section, locate the Type field.
Click the dropdown and select the desired Customer Type.
Your changes will save automatically.
Example
You might assign:
“Residential” for individual homeowners
“Commercial” for business clients
“Property Manager” for portfolio accounts
Best Practices
Keep your customer types simple and consistent across your team.
Use Customer Types with filters and reports to analyze performance by customer category.
Combine with Tags for even more precise segmentation (e.g., Residential – VIP).
