Updated over a month ago

Step 1: Open the Aerial Measurements Tool

Go to Calculators > Aerial Measurements in your Homeworks account.

Step 2: Select a Property

You can either:

  • Enter an address, or

  • Select an existing customer and property already in Homeworks.

Step 3: Adjust Measurement Options

Before measuring, click Measurement Options to configure settings:

  • Units: feet, yards, meters, or acres

  • Decimal precision: number of decimal places for measurements and rates

  • Measurement color: choose a color to represent each measurement type

Step 4: Take Measurements

Area Measurements

  1. Select what you want to measure: Buildings, Property, Area, or Custom selection.

  2. Click to place marker points around the area.

  3. Close the shape by connecting to the first point.

  4. Homeworks will fill in the shape and display the calculated measurement.

Distance Measurements

  1. Select Calculate Distance.

  2. Click two or more points on the map to measure straight-line distances.

Subtracting Areas

If you need to subtract an area (e.g., removing a building footprint from a property lot size):

  1. Select the area to subtract.

  2. Draw the shape inside your original measurement.

  3. Homeworks will adjust the total measurement automatically.

Step 5: Apply Rates to Measurements

You can enter a rate charge for any measurement to automatically calculate pricing.

  • Enter rates before or after measuring.

  • Homeworks will multiply the area or distance by your rate to show total cost.

Step 6: Save Measurements to a Property

Click:

  • Save Measurements to Property (for existing properties), or

  • Save Measurements to New Property (for new addresses).

A green Saved message will confirm success.

Step 7: View Saved Measurements

To review saved measurements:

  1. Go to the Customers tab.

  2. Open the property by clicking the three dots > Edit Property.

  3. In the Main Info section, you’ll see:

    • Saved areas and distances

    • Lot size (automatically updated with all saved building/area measurements)
